Meet Dr. Snyder

Dr. Snyder earned her undergraduate degree from Yale University in Connecticut and returned to Ohio for medical school at Case Western Reserve University. While at Case Western, she was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha honor medical society which recognizes students with exemplary academics, professionalism, and leadership.
Dr. Snyder completed her ophthalmology residency at the University of Chicago where she served as Chief Resident. Following residency, she completed her vitreoretinal fellowship at Vanderbilt University where she was presented with the J. Donald M. Gass Award for excellence in patient care.
After fellowship she practiced for 8 years in Raleigh, North Carolina where she served as a principal investigator for ten clinical trials which have explored novel treatments for diabetic retinopathy and macular edema; wet and dry macular degeneration; and retinal vein occlusion.
Dr. Snyder is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the American Society of Retina Specialists. She has published peer-reviewed research articles in Retina and OSLI Retina.
She loves her time in the operating room and the ability to maximize visual potential for her patients. Her areas of interest include secondary intraocular lenses, macular holes, epiretinal membranes, and retinal tears and detachments. In the clinic she also enjoys managing macular degeneration, diabetes, and retinal vascular occlusions.
Separate from work, Dr. Snyder loves to cook and has been known to throw a 12 course dinner party for family and friends. She takes inspiration from her travels and recent themes include modern French, Caribbean heat, and Vietnamese-Korean fusion. Her favorite part of any event is that her husband is in charge of the dishes.
She is a farmer by association and over the past 4 years she has assisted her husband in the care of 15 chickens, 2 cows, and 11 sheep. The only animal relocating with her in TX is the cutest blue heeler named Cooper who is spoiled rotten.
Dr. Snyder loves country music, fun restaurants, and being active. Whether she is cycling, hiking, or doing yoga at sunrise, she likes to stay in motion. She tries to spend as much time with her family in the Midwest as possible although she does not miss the winters. She loves her job as a retina surgeon and is very excited to be part of the Austin Retina team.
